A BRIEF HISTORY
The Academic Staff College, Burdwan University was established in the year 1989 to cater for the vital need for improving the status of the teacher as
well as to inculcate dynamism in higher education system by providing opportunities for professional and career advancement as proposed in the National Policy on Education,
1986 (NPE).
The main objectives of our ASC are to enable the newly appointed teacher to understand the significance of education in general and higher education in
particular in the global and Indian context. | |

Secondly to understand the linkage between education & economic and socio-cultural development and thirdly to acquire and improve basic skills of teaching
keeping abreast with the development in subject. |
